Tsavo East

Tsavo East National Park, located in southeastern Kenya, is a spectacular wildlife sanctuary that spans an expansive area of over 13,747 square kilometers (5,308 square miles). Established in 1948, it is one of the oldest and largest national parks in Kenya. Tsavo East is renowned for its diverse and breathtaking landscapes, abundant wildlife, and fascinating history.

The park’s terrain is incredibly varied, ranging from vast open plains and savannah grasslands to arid scrublands, dense thickets, and acacia woodlands. This diverse landscape creates a rich and dynamic ecosystem that supports an impressive array of wildlife species. Visitors to Tsavo East have the opportunity to witness the Big Five – lions, elephants, leopards, buffalos, and rhinos – in their natural habitat, making it a sought-after destination for wildlife enthusiasts.

One of the park’s most iconic features is the Galana River, which meanders through the park, providing a vital water source for the animals. Visitors can explore the riverbanks and observe crocodiles sunning themselves, as well as a variety of bird species, including African fish eagles, herons, and kingfishers.
